This declaration opens the whole chapter (vv. 2, 4, 37, 44). Therefore every day named here — including Passover and the Wave Sheaf of Firstfruits — is without exception an appointed time of YHVH, a holy convocation on which the saints gather. To lift out a single verse and read it as “Passover, that great feast of the Jews, is neither a Shabbat nor a Shabbaton” is a grave contradiction that has forgotten this declaration. Do not forget it — Leviticus 23 is a chapter of the moadim from beginning to end.

Leviticus 23 is the chapter in which YHVH gathers into one place and proclaims His own appointed times (מוֹעֲדִים, moadim), those “which you shall proclaim as holy convocations.” Where Numbers 28–29 prescribes what is offered at each feast and how many, Leviticus 23 prescribes what kind of day each appointed time is — whether Shabbat or Shabbaton, whether a holy convocation, and what work is forbidden (lo taasu).

한 가지를 잊지 말 것One Thing Not to Forget

Every appointed time in Leviticus 23 is a moed of YHVH and a holy convocation — verse 2 declares this over the whole chapter. Passover and the Wave Sheaf of Firstfruits are no exception.

본문은 그 위에 특정한 날에 안식의 낱말을 더 붙여 강조합니다 — 샤밭 중의 샤밭톤(가장 깊은 안식)은 주간 샤밭과 속죄일, 샤밭톤은 나팔절·초막절 첫날·여덟째 날.
On top of that, the text adds a word of rest to certain days for emphasis — Shabbat Shabbaton (the deepest rest) to the weekly Shabbat and the Day of Atonement; Shabbaton to Trumpets, the first day of Tabernacles, and the Eighth Day.

But whether or not that word is attached does not make one moed lesser than another. Passover, the Wave Sheaf of Firstfruits, Unleavened Bread, and Weeks are all alike moadim of YHVH and days of holy convocation.

·‘로 타아수’ — 일을 금하는 두 등급“Lo Taasu” — The Two Grades of Forbidden Work

לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ (로 타아수)는 “너희는 하지 마라”라는 뜻입니다. 레위기 23장은 이 금지를 두 등급으로 정확히 나눕니다. 두 표현 모두 끝은 같은 로 타아수지만, 앞의 목적어가 다릅니다.

לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ (lo taasu) means “you shall not do.” Leviticus 23 divides this prohibition precisely into two grades. Both expressions end with the same lo taasu; what differs is the object placed before it.

핵심The Key Point

레위기 23장은 오직 주간 샤밭과 속죄일에만 “모든 일(멜라카)”을 금하고, 그 밖의 거룩한 모임 날에는 “노동하는 일(믈레케트 아보다)”을 금합니다. 곧 두 종류의 안식을 원문 자체가 구분하고 있습니다.

Leviticus 23 forbids “all work (melakhah)” only on the weekly Shabbat and the Day of Atonement; on the other days of holy convocation it forbids “laborious work (melekhet avodah).” That is, the Hebrew text itself distinguishes two kinds of rest.

The fourteenth day of the first month, between the evenings (בין הערבים, bein ha-arbayim), is YHVH's Passover. By the declaration of verse 2, this day is a moed of YHVH and a holy convocation on which the people gather. The daytime of the fourteenth is the day of preparation, when the Passover lamb is offered, and so the text sets no separate prohibition of work on this day.

·맺음Closing

이것들이 여호와의 모에드이니, 거룩한 모임으로 선포하여 화제·번제·곡물 예물·제물·전제를 “그날그날 정한 대로” 드릴 때입니다(23:37). 이는 여호와의 샤밭과 너희 예물과 모든 서원·자원의 제물 “외에” 따로 드리는 것입니다(23:38).

These are the moadim of YHVH, which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, at which to present offerings made by fire, burnt offerings, grain offerings, sacrifices, and drink offerings — “each on its own day” (23:37). And these are presented “besides” the Shabbats of YHVH, besides your gifts, and besides all your vows and freewill offerings (23:38).
